In the spring of 1972, in a small Detroit location, Yates Industries Incorporated was founded by William H Yates II. Yates Industries began as a distributor of fluid power products and a repair facility for the fluid power industry. With an ever-increasing customer base, Yates Industries purchased the Horace G. Preston Company, a local leader in the packing and seal industry, to better serve its customers. Moving into a larger facility became a necessity, so operations were moved into a 30,000 sq.ft. facility located on 9 Mile Road in St Clair Shores, Michigan. Due to our early involvement with the local steel mills and the auto industry we realized the need for a high quality, competitively priced cylinder line. In early 1975 the Yates Cylinder Division was created to provide heavy duty N.F.P.A cylinders to our local customers. Into the late 70's our cylinder line expanded to include both medium duty hydraulic and steel pneumatic products. In the early 80's, Yates Industries purchased three honing companies which increased our efficiencies and allowed us to economically repair cylinders, even on an emergency basis, without sacrificing quality. By the mid 80's, our name had become synonymous with Quality Cylinder Repairs. Our Yates Cylinder lines were being distributed by an ever growing international distributor network. To ensure our continued growth, Yates Industries purchased multiple state-of-the-art CNC machines. A short time later, we computerized inventory control, accounting, purchasing, and sales processes to further increase production and shorten delivery times for complete customer satisfaction. To expand our robust offerings, we began the lates 80's with the introduction of the Yates Mill Cylinder line in both hydraulic and pneumatic, as well as our A2 series aluminum N.F.P.A cylinder line in the early 90's.. In 1998, as a result of our continued growth, Yates Industries needed and purchased a 100,000+ sq.ft. facility located at 23050 Industrial Drive East, St. Clair Shores, Michigan which allowed all three operating units to move under one roof. This new facility allowed us to expand our engineering department plus all manufacturing departments. Yates Industries has always been known for quality, consequently, it was a seamless transition to become ISO certified in 2000. We are currently ISO 9001: 2008 certified. With diligent attention to detail and quality, we offer one of the industries best warranty policies. Three years on standard N.F.P.A. mounting style Yates cylinders, one year on custom and special manufactured cylinders, and six months on repaired cylinders. The twenty-first century has been promising, increasing our customer base and the number of distributors throughout the United States and internationally. We were very excited to introduce the latest additions to our cylinder lines with the YS line of custom round body and welded cylinders, as well as the YRL series static rod locks. In January 2007, we proudly announced the opening of our new additional facility in Decatur, Alabama, Yates Industries South, LLC, specializing in servicing steel mills and to handle all your cylinder needs. Yates Industries and the Yates Cylinder Division will continue to grow to meet the ever changing needs of our customers and the manufacturing industry.
