Lundin Mining Corporation is the owner, developer and operator of the Eagle Mine in western Marquette County of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The mine was purchased by Lundin from Rio Tinto in 2013. Production commenced in September of 2014. Eagle is the first mine to be permitted under Michigan’s Part 632 Non Ferrous Mineral Mining Law. The underground mine is expected to produce 360 million pounds of nickel, 295 million pounds of copper and small amounts of other metals over its estimated eight year mine life.
